Henri
Multi-instrumental mix of original, folk, rock, blues, and world music.
Bio
I am a native Minnesotan that has just returned to the Duluth area after traveling for 7 years The past two years I was a professional musician in France. I started playing the guitar at the age of 9 years old, and was heavily influenced by Neil Young, Ali Farka Touré, John Lee Hooker, The Beatles, and Tuareg music from the Sahara.. After studying Biology at the University of Minnesota Duluth, I wandered for years from Alaska to the Amazon, Ethiopia to India and then France. Throughout this nomadic lifestyle, music has been the one constant, and the music I play and have written is a reflection of all the sights, sounds, smells and people and animals I’ve encountered.
Music
My musical style is quite varied and eclectic. I mix many different types of music from different countries, languages, and eras. You might hear an original song written in Alaska followed by a song sung in Italian followed by an electric sitar instrumental. I am a bit of a shape shifter, and can play sweetly or fiercely, depending on the ambiance of the room I am playing. I can play an entire show of originals, telling stories about where the songs come from, or I can play up to three hours of incredibly varied covers from around the world. I play a steel tri-cone resonator guitar, traditional acoustic guitar, harmonica, electric guitar, banjo, foot percussion, and the electric sitar.
